Our Mission and Vision

At Mauntain organization our mission is to uplift vulnerable and marginalized Africans, including East African refugees and asylum seekers, by creating a sanctuary where they can thrive.

We focus on fostering inclusive, healthy Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) activities and improving the living environments for vulnerable and marginalized Africans and African refugees living in exile, ensuring they have the resources they need to reach their full potential.

Another sign contains handwritten messages expressing queer pride and support. There are various pride flags in the background, and the setting appears to be outdoors on a paved area.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to save the lives of Africans, especially East Africans, whose lives have been endangered by the Ugandan Anti-Homosexuality Act of 2023.

This law has made it illegal to be gay, punishable by death, forcing many to flee to neighboring countries like Kenya, only to face further challenges and threats to their lives.

Refugee Crisis

For years, vulnerable East Africans have sought refuge in Kenya to escape the life-threatening environment in their home countries. Most were assigned to live in the Kakuma Refugee Camp, where conditions are deplorable, especially for individuals of a certain class.

The camp is rife with homophobic violence, unjust imprisonment, and severe deprivation of basic needs like food, clean water, sanitation, and medical care. In this harsh environment, survival often depends on begging, creating a cycle of dependency and distrust.

Our Response

Recognizing that unemployment and financial dependence are core issues, we believe in empowering our community by helping them become financially independent.

Dr. Paul, Rev David and Benny founded the Mauntain.org Organization three years ago to provide vulnerable and marginalized East African refugees with opportunities to earn income through the internet.

Today, we are focusing on creating safe houses or sanctuaries where people can go underground to safely build sustainable businesses.

Our Projects

We are seeking donors willing to invest seed money to fund these startup underground enterprises. Depending on the local environment, these can be group operations or sole proprietorships. Call us directly or email us for more details on our flagship project at Mauntain.org, and other projects we are focusing on.
